At Ruffled Feathers, we are building a modern poultry operation that uses technology to support better decision-making, improve efficiency and promote responsible farm management.
This helps us to identify operational risks at an early stage, reduce unnecessary waste and maintain a more stable environment for our birds. For example, the system can alert the farm team when temperatures move outside the desired range, when water consumption changes unexpectedly or when feed levels require attention.
By combining hands-on farming experience with practical technology, Ruffled Feathers aims to operate more efficiently while continuously improving the quality, consistency and sustainability of its egg-production processes.
Our flock of 500 layers is currently achieving an egg-laying rate of approximately 96%, producing around 480 fresh eggs per day. This reflects our focus on quality nutrition, responsible flock management and a carefully controlled poultry-house environment.
Our next expansion milestone is to have 2500 layers to meet teh growing demand from our bulk buyers and retail buyers alike.
Our target capacity is to have 4000 layers
Many SMEs still rely on traditional poultry-farming methods; we are helping to close this gap by introducing IoT-enabled sensors and smarter tools that improve how farms are managed and scaled.
We use data-driven insights and smart technology to help farmers monitor soil health.
Our advanced irrigation systems reduce water waste and support efficient crop hydration.
Use dried poultry manure, manure pellets, composting material, crushed eggshells or the pelletisation process.
For example the image to the right illustrates- Real-time temperature monitoring helps us maintain optimal poultry-house conditions of between 18°C and 27°C for healthier hens and consistent egg production.
We use IoT-enabled sensors to monitor key conditions within our poultry houses, enabling us to make informed decisions that support flock health, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Our approach demonstrates how small and emerging poultry farmers can use practical, scalable technology to improve daily operations and build more sustainable farming businesses.

We use sensor-based monitoring to track temperature, ventilation, water, lighting and energy use, helping us maintain consistent conditions for healthy birds and dependable production.

Our flock and production systems are managed around anticipated customer demand, enabling us to forecast egg volumes, manage normal fluctuations and fulfil orders more reliably.

Poultry manure, eggshells and suitable organic materials are responsibly processed for future use as nutrient-rich agricultural inputs, reducing waste across the farming cycle.
